The third floor at the Market Cat in York looking towards the Minster

The Market Cat - York

On the corner of Shambles Market, our three-storey venue boasts spectacular views across the rooftops of the city to York Minster. The building was previously occupied by Yorkshire pawnbroker Herbert Brown & Son. After a sensitive renovation project, the pub now has a traditional look with a ‘modern twist’ with each floor having a different and unique feel.

The ground floor is reminiscent of a traditional city centre boozer, with mahogany panels, leather sofas and a cosy snug. The first floor kitchen diner has floor to ceiling windows overlooking the market. On the top floor, booths line the windows so you can enjoy the fantastic views and you can also see where the action happens in our beer cellar.
